STEK

Presentation made in collaboration with musician composer Tommie Freke. Commissioned by 'Het 5e Kwartier'.
STEK is a site-specific performance in the Haarlem Slachthuisbuurt. A journey through the past of this working-class neighborhood. In 'The Abattoir', porch homes and stores memories from local residents come to life. Artist and thearter makers processed life stories of workers, shopkeepers, immigrants and young people to intimate musical theater. STEK is about soliderity and loneliness. About insiders and outsiders, about catholics and socialists, about them and us, about like knows like and being a stranger in your own neighborhood.
